I blame social media for increasing the fuel on comparisons. They portray "highlights" and not the full story and creates unnecessary idea of what am I missing out on "FOMO". It takes away focus on oneself, all the growth one has achieved and it feels never enough.

100% FOMO is a real deal.

To say this discussion gets me irrationally excited doesn't capture the glee. The overlapping biases that feed into compare/contrast... the oversized "Yes!!" that caused my Admin to run to the door might give you the visual.

Most would consider it "The Road not Taken" when looking at the decision tree, but they'd be missing the host of inputs that created the choice. "If/Then" statements neglect the "Why" we chose the "If".

I needed a topic to write my next entry on and you graciously teed it up.

I love when posts spark other posts.

Social media is a net-negative in this context, in my opinion. I think I would be off it by now if not for hanging onto it to promote my Substack and to shout my political takes into the void.

As an educator I never wanted my students to compete with others but to compete to reach their goals and improve and progress according to their own term. I wanted them to work hard but against their own standards and expectations. I applied the same as a mother.

I love how you covered the society as a whole . A great topic especially in today’s social media environment.
