Welcome Claire & Ben...

"K-Shaped Economy" has gone full Fonzie on water skis (Jump the Shark for the younglings!) CNBC had a report on ticket sales and misused the term as they tried to describe the disparity in pricing models for Taylor Swift versus Post Malone. Two very different markets.

*I think we're at ∑ shaped... some always "fine", some always "struggling", and the divergence within income strata. But "K" is easier for people to visualize.

Mike Johnson would rather put the House in Recess than legislate. It's easier to do nothing than something you have to run on. The funniest relationship on the Hill is Josh Hawley and Liz Warren, they agree on more than people assume and sometimes the result is useful.

Prediction Markets are tax revenue, thus the proliferation like traditional gambling ads. (The Senate will do nothing. Only one member of CTFC, enforcement is unavailable. Trump won't sit the remaining 4.)

*Will listen while exercising later, something tells me the blood pressure will go up not from your examination but the topics as a whole. Behaviorally these are triggers with the current political environment!

I hope you enjoyed the discussion while maintaining your blood pressure.

I feel bad for Jack and his cohort. 1992, Bush, Clinton and Perot made for an informative 1st Presidential election for me at 20 yrs old. It forced the conversation to be on things that mattered (mainly). Add in they only know Trump and how destructive policy has been. The Pandemic exposed so many faults in our system, that neither party wishes to own, it's going to be years before it self-regulates.

One area I would disagree, again w/ Jack, is on nepotism. People are having Identity bias issues directly influenced by Authority Bias (maybe Confirmation bias in specific items?) Some voters haven't defected from policy because they "hope" adding more like minded people brings about change.

Favoritism, which isn't a bias but a part of Choice Theory premised on specific actions, results in inequality feelings and resentment. It's self-destructive behavior guided by a desire to curry favor, even when pain is the result.

*It's was a semester's worth of incentive design packed into 26 minutes. I'd love to hear an episode solely on how you incentivize "good behavior".
